Your adventure starts with a scenic ferry ride from River Heads to K’gari. You step off the ferry and into something truly special. Explore K’gari on a Full-Day 4WD Adventure

Then, on the next day, jump in a 4WD and explore K’gari in full. You visit Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, Wanggoolba Creek, Central Station, and the iconic Maheno Shipwreck. You cruise along Seventy-Five Mile Beach and stop for a buffet lunch at K’gari Beach Resort. It is a full day of pure adventure.

That night, the Christmas Buffet fills the Ballroom with festive spirit. You take home a special gift and battle it out at trivia. The next evening brings an Aussie BBQ Buffet and a lively game of bingo.

You also join a morning Whale Watch Cruise along the Fraser Coast. July brings humpback whales in full force — spy-hopping, breaching, and playing close to the boat. Day 1 HOME TO K’GARI

Welcome to our Christmas in July escape to the beautiful K’gari! With pickups taken care of, we make our way to River Heads and board the ferry for a scenic crossing of the Great Sandy Strait to K’gari.

On arrival at Kingfisher Bay Resort, our friendly hosts welcome us before we settle into our comfortable resort accommodation. Take some time to unpack, relax, and breathe in the fresh island air.

That evening, we gather for a welcome pre-dinner drink — beer, wine, or soft drink, your choice — before indulging in a delicious Asian-inspired Dune Buffet dinner in the Ballroom.

Following dinner, rug up in your complimentary blanket and prepare to be amazed by the Illumina Return to Sky light show. This spectacular 20-minute outdoor experience is Queensland’s first-ever permanent light, laser, and projection installation. Showcased from a sustainably built amphitheatre, it tells the captivating story of K’gari’s regeneration through vibrant colour, stunning sound, and breathtaking storytelling beneath the stars.

Day 2 ISLAND ADVENTURE & CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

After a full buffet breakfast at the Sand & Wood Restaurant, we jump into a 4WD for a full-day Beauty Spots Tour of K’gari. Today promises to be an incredible day of island exploration.

We travel along the iconic Seventy-Five Mile Beach and visit some of K’gari’s most famous landmarks, including the crystal-clear waters of Lake McKenzie, the lush rainforest walks of Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek, the beautiful Eli Creek, and the historic Maheno Shipwreck — a rusting reminder of a fascinating maritime past. Along the way, we enjoy a hearty buffet lunch at K’gari Beach Resort, right on the beachfront.

That evening, the festive Christmas spirit truly comes alive! Enjoy a welcome pre-dinner beverage before sitting down to a themed Christmas Buffet in the Ballroom, complete with a special gift to take home. Throughout the evening, put your general knowledge to the test with a fun game of trivia — the winning table takes home a small treat!

Day 3 WHALES, BUSH TUCKER & BINGO

An early start this morning as we enjoy breakfast at the Sand & Wood Restaurant before setting sail on a morning Whale Watch Cruise along the stunning Fraser Coast waters. July is peak season for humpback whales, and these magnificent creatures are often spotted spy-hopping, breaching, and playing close to the boat — an experience that never gets old!

Back on shore, we enjoy a relaxed lunch at Sand & Wood — assorted sandwiches, wraps, and a seasonal fruit platter. The afternoon is yours at leisure. Explore the K’gari World Heritage Centre, wander the resort grounds, or simply sit back and enjoy the beautiful island surroundings.

At 4pm, we gather for a Bush Tucker Talk and Taste experience — a fascinating and eye-opening session where we discover the incredible world of native Australian foods and Indigenous culture, all with a complimentary beverage in hand.

We round out our final evening together with a classic Aussie BBQ Buffet in the Ballroom and a lively game of bingo. Winners take home a small prize — may the best player win!

DAY 4 K’GARI TO HOME

After one last full buffet breakfast at the Sand & Wood Restaurant, we check out of Kingfisher Bay Resort and make our way to the ferry terminal for our return crossing to River Heads.

We head home with wonderful memories, new friendships, and a heart full of island magic. What a trip!
