King Island Tasmania Tour – 5 Days of Coast, Cuisine, Wildlife & Island Life | 14th–18th December 2026

A coastal golf course with rolling green hills, sandy dunes, and a winding path awaits you on the King Island Tour. The ocean is on the left, and a tall white lighthouse stands in the distance under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

Escape to King Island, Tasmania, for five days of coastal scenery, local flavours and a genuine taste of island life. Our King Island Tasmania tour takes you from Currie to the island’s northern and southern reaches, with four nights at Island Breeze and a relaxed mix of sightseeing, dining and local encounters.

Begin in Currie, where you can enjoy the harbour atmosphere and get a feel for everyday island life. Then meet local growers and farmers who share stories about food production, sustainable growing and self-sufficient living.

The next day, head north to some of King Island’s best-known coastal sights. Walk along the sweeping sands of Martha Lavinia Beach, visit peaceful Penny’s Lagoon and take in the rugged scenery of Disappointment Bay. Afterwards, continue to Cape Wickham, where the 48-metre lighthouse rises above the northern coastline. You will also visit Cape Wickham Golf Course, with its impressive views across the Southern Ocean.

Food is another important part of this journey. Enjoy lunch at King Island Brewhouse, dine at Wild Harvest and visit a chef’s own property for a cooking demonstration, lunch and guided tour. Along the way, you will also meet local producers and enjoy more of the island’s food culture.

As your King Island Tasmania tour continues, visit Sea Elephant, Seal Rocks and the unusual Calcified Forest. Later, spend time in Grassy before heading to the harbour after dark to watch for Little Penguins returning ashore.

Finally, visit King Island Museum to learn more about the island’s shipwrecks, settlement and local stories before flying back to Melbourne.

After checking in, the group enjoys lunch at Currie Harbour, taking in views across the working waterfront. The afternoon continues with a visit to a local market garden, where a King Islander shares insights into biodynamic food production and sustainable growing practices. After breakfast, we set off to explore King Island’s northern coastline, starting with a stop at the Reekara Top Shop for morning tea, with an opportunity to purchase locally made arts and crafts.

The journey continues to Quarantine Bay and the sweeping sands of Martha Lavinia Beach, where rugged coastlines and open ocean views define this remote corner of the island. Lunch is enjoyed beside the unique perched lake of Penny’s Lagoon, followed by visits to Martha Lavinia, an epic surf beach, Disappointment Bay, the iconic Cape Wickham Lighthouse and the spectacular Cape Wickham Golf Course, perched dramatically above the Southern Ocean.

After a rest break at Island Breeze and dinner at the King Island Golf & Bowling Club, the day concludes with a special evening experience at Grassy Harbour, where guests witness Little Penguins returning ashore after dark. A gentle end to a memorable day.
