Step Back in Time at Bankfoot House
First, we visit the remarkable Bankfoot House and Mary Grigor Centre. This state heritage-listed property is the oldest surviving residence in the Glass House Mountains region. Built in 1868 by pioneers Mary and William Grigor, it served as a lunch stop for Cobb & Co Coaches on the famous Brisbane to Gympie route. Today, the Mary Grigor Centre honours Mary’s incredible contribution to early pioneering life on the Sunshine Coast. It is a fascinating and moving tribute to the women who shaped this region. Best of all, entry is free.
Lunch with a View at Glass House Plantation
Next, we head to the gorgeous Glass House Plantation Café, a hilltop gem perched above the valley. The café serves fresh, seasonal, and locally grown produce alongside locally grown coffee and tea. With breathtaking mountain views stretching in every direction, it is one of the most beautiful lunch spots on the Sunshine Coast. Choose from the signature menu or the pasta and burgers menu.
Explore Landsborough Museum
After lunch, we visit the charming Landsborough Museum, a state heritage-listed building in the heart of Landsborough. This much-loved local history museum brings the stories of Landsborough and its surrounding communities to life through fascinating exhibits and collections. Entry is also free. It is a wonderful and relaxed way to round out a brilliant day in the Glass House Mountains region.
