    Day 1 HOME TO WARWICK

Welcome to our tour of the Jumpers & Jazz Festival! This morning, we venture inland towards Ipswich, where we will be greeted by the friendly folk at Watercress Creek Olives and Limes. Born from a long farming history, with its beginnings as a dairy farm, the Pine Mountain property now produces a delightful range of olive products, chutneys, and jams. After a tour, we’ll stay on for lunch and a tasting of their delicious produce.  Back on board, we continue to Warwick. Upon arrival, unpack and relax, as this will be home for the next three nights.

Lunch at Watercress Creek Olives and Limes | Dinner at the motel

This morning, we make our way to the Warwick Railway Station, built from local sandstone in the 1880s. The plaque outside the station immortalises the egg-throwing incident involving the then Prime Minister, Billy Hughes, in 1917, which led to the formation of the Federal Police. It’s all aboard as we embark on a memorable ride along the historic Downs Explorer Railway.  Our two-hour journey will surely have us captivated as we traverse some of the most picturesque scenery in the Granite Belt and Darling Downs region.

Upon our return, we enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch before spending the remainder of the day at the colourful and vibrant Jumpers & Jazz Festival. The community comes together to showcase its creative flair with an exciting program of events, including yarnbombing, pop-up shops, and culinary delights. You may like to visit the Warwick Town Hall to see the famous Yarnbombed Tree Jumper exhibition, browse the Artisan Markets, or enjoy live band performances at the Town Hall stage. The choice is yours!

Following breakfast, we spend the morning revelling in the activities of the final day the festival. This afternoon, we regroup for a visit to the Warwick & District Historical Society Museum. Take a stroll through a collection of buildings featuring furniture and household items that represent more than 130 years of family life in the Warwick district. Another must-see attraction is the Abbey Boutique Hotel, a beautifully restored former ‘Our Lady of Assumption’ Convent, completed in 1891. We enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea in this beautiful old building, which is steeped in local history.

Breakfast and dinner at motel | Lunch at own expense

Before departing town, we visit the Australian Rodeo Heritage Centre, dedicated to the spirit of rodeo and the cowboy. It’s a place to explore the history and relive the glory of the rodeo’s greatest champions. We then bid farewell to Warwick and travel north to Nobby, where we stop at Rudd’s Pub for morning tea. Established in 1893, it was originally called the “Davenporter” Hotel. The name was later changed to Rudd’s Pub in honour of Steele Rudd, the author of the radio classic Dad and Dave.

This afternoon, we pause in Toowoomba for lunch at the Urth Café. Back on board, sit back and relax as we journey home, arriving in the late afternoon after a wonderful tour to Warwick!
