5-Day Zoofari Dubbo Tour – Wildlife Encounters & Safari Adventure  | 28th January – 1st February 2026

Leaving Moree, we have a morning on the coach until we reach Coonamble, a town brimming with cultural significance. As we arrive, you’ll be greeted by the Coonamble Water Tower, an impressive structure adorned with vibrant artwork that tells the tales of the town’s history and celebrates its diverse culture. Marvel at the incredible colours and imagery.

After lunch, we travel to the beautiful Macquarie Valley to find Dubbo. Here we enjoy a tour of the Old Dubbo Gaol, which will bring history to life! Be led through this remarkably complete and intact gaol while listening to our guide as they create a rift through time, allowing us to discover the stories behind the prison walls. From here, we check in to our overnight accommodation.

This morning, we visit Dundullimal Homestead, a well-preserved colonial property bearing testimony to the hardships and conditions of colonial life. We’ll be taken on a guided tour, where we’ll visit the slab house and stone stables that remain on the property.

Then we head to Taronga Western Plains Zoo – home to more than 1,100 animals from around the world, many of them endangered species. The zoo is in the unique position to allow many of the animals to roam freely and to be viewed without the visual barriers of fences, bars or glass, instead using a system of dry and water-filled moats.

We take a drive around the zoo and welcome a zoo guide on board, who will explain the open-range layout and some of the behind-the-scenes operations of the zoo. After time to purchase lunch (own expense), we check in to our unique Zoofari Lodges for a memorable experience of sleeping right beside the stunning savannah.

Touring during our stay will include a Giraffe Encounter, a delicious banquet dinner, followed by an exclusive Safari Night Tour in the open-air truck. Led by passionate keepers and guides, we’ll have the chance to see some of the zoo’s residents after dark.

We will have to pinch ourselves to know this magical experience is real!

First up is a Safari Morning Tour to view the animals in the early morning light before a delicious breakfast awaits us back at the Guest House. We have a leisurely morning as we soak up the Lodge atmosphere before meeting on the coach for our morning drive through to Dunedoo, where we stop to look at the silo featuring Winx, a retired champion Australian thoroughbred racehorse, and her famous rider Hugh Bowman, who was born here in Dunedoo.

From here, we continue through Tamworth and on to Armidale for our final night on tour together.

With our bags packed, we begin our journey home, stopping in Ballina for our farewell lunch. We then continue up the coast, crossing the border back into Queensland and arriving home after a wonderful tour.
